CHAK is a national faith-based organisation of the Protestant Churches, health institutions and programs from all counties of Kenya providing quality health care since 1946 through building of health systems, partnerships, and community empowerment.
CHAK is founded upon Revelation 22:2 which states “on each side of the river there was the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
Leadership Transition: Outgoing General Secretary and CEO Dr. Samuel Mwenda handed over leadership of CHAK to Dr. Chrisostim Barasa in March 2025

CHAK’s Strategic Vision, taken from our founding verse in Rev 22:2, is symbolized by a river (CHAK) flowing into the ocean of Universal Health Coverage.
The Tree of Life which grows on either side of River CHAK, is fruitful, producing 12 distinct fruits through out the year:
Tree A: CHAK Health Services
Produces the six fruits of Disease Control, Health Spirituality, Health Systems Strengthening, Health Business Development, M&E, Accountability, Research and Learning and Health Management Units.
Tree B: CHAK Business Services (CBS)
Produces six fruits:CHAK Guest House, consultancies, medical equipment, real estate, health/medical vehicle insurance and the Institute of Capacity Development
The Tree of Life growing on either side of River CHAK provides health and healing, with its leaves being for the healing of the nations.
